Professors & Students from Mexico Study at OSU for Month of June

Friday, June 18, 2010

The School of International Studies welcomed 40 professors and 32 students from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) two weeks ago for a cultural immersion program during the month of June. The participants will be on campus through July 3rd. The students’ focus areas are in business and engineering, and the professors’ focus areas vary from mathematics to literature to sports to student development. On Fridays and Saturdays of each week in June, the group visits businesses and attends cultural activities. Among their weekend and weekly activities are tours of Kicker Speakers and Eskimo Joes clothes, presentations by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and Tulsa City Government, visits to OKC Bricktown and Pawnee Bill Ranch & Wild West Show, and attendance to the Stillwater Community Band concerts. This is the third year for the program that has seen growth of over 300% from its first year when the Spears School of Business brought the 21 students to campus. Unfortunately, the program had to be cancelled last year due to the H1N1 outbreak.
