UPAEP Liaison Office at OSU
Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) is a private university
located in Puebla, Mexico. UPAEP and Oklahoma State University (OSU) have developed
a strong relationship since 1992 when they signed their first collaboration agreement.
UPAEP and OSU have worked in a variety of academic program. In 2004, UPAEP decided
to open a permanent office in the United States to better follow up all programs
between UPAEP and OSU and between UPAEP and other American universities. During
2004 and 2005, OSU hosted UPAEP office in the Wellness Center, Institute for Issue
Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution. However, in 2006, Dr. Hromas, Director
of International Education & Outreach offered UPAEP to house and UPAEP Liaison Office
in the Wes Watkins Center. That same year, 2006, OSU opened its own Mexico Liaison
office at UPAEP.
Objectives:
The objectives of UPAEP Liaison office is to strength the partnership between
UPAEP and OSU. Serve as a liaison with other U.S. and Mexican Institutions of Higher
Education institutions and Learning represent UPAEP in the United States.
Activities:
UPAEP Liaison office has been instrumental designing and delivering of a variety
of academic programs for UPAEP students, faculty, and staff members. Some examples
of these efforts are:
- Grupo Punta trip to OSU in 2003
- Agriculture Summer internship programs
- Faculty members exchange programs
- Semester long UPAEP visitor professors
- Dual Master Programs
- Spanish at UPAEP and English at OSU programs
- Business Incubator agreement between Meridian Technology Center-OSU and UPAEP
