New Phi Beta Delta members will be formally inducted on November 11, 2009 at 4:30 in room 108 Wes Watkins Center. Professor Barbara Stoecker will give the keynote address and Provost Marlene Strathe will confer the medallions. We anticipate inducting twenty-three new members. The ceremony should last approximately an hour followed by a reception.

It has been 30 years since Title IX legislation granted women equal playing time, but the male-dominated world of sports journalism has yet to catch up with the law. Coverage of women's sports lags far behind men's, and focuses on female athletes’ femininity and sexuality over their achievements on the court and field. Discussants to be announced.
