2016-2017 Phi Beta Delta Student Award Information
The Epsilon Upsilon chapter of Phi Beta Delta at Oklahoma State University (OSU) offers several awards annually to support student research presentations. Phi Beta Delta will reimburse up to $500 to each recipient for unreimbursed expenses associated with travel, accommodations and/or registration for presenting their research at either an international conference or a domestic conference at which international research is presented. Award application deadline is March 10, 2017. See information below on preferences given for awardee selection.
Eligibility and Selection Process
Enrolled OSU students in good standing are eligible to apply, in accordance with the criteria outlined below.
- Currently enrolled at OSU
- Currently a member of Phi Beta Delta or applied for membership consideration to become a member
- Preference is given to first time awardees, though past recipients may apply if they so choose
- Preference is given to applicants planning to present their research and represent Oklahoma State University at the 2016 Phi Beta Delta Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA June 2-3, 2017 (http://www.phibetadelta.org/cfp2017)
Awardees will be selected by the Epsilon Upsilon Award Committee based on the criteria indicated above. The Committee is comprised of three non-student members of the Phi Beta Delta Board.
Application ProcessApplication Process
Applications are available in 242 Student Union or online at www. pbd.okstate.edu. In addition to the application, candidates should submit an abstract statement (500 words or fewer) that describes the topic of the paper to be presented. Unofficial transcripts of OSU college work are also required, as well as one recommendation letter from an OSU faculty member familiar with the applicant’s work and area(s) of interest. All application materials should be sent by March 10, 2017 to the Epsilon Upsilon chapter Coordinator, Jeff Simpson (contact information below).
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the selection process in late March. Awardees will be expected to present a brief version of their conference paper at a future Phi Beta Delta event.
